Better requires process, discipline, and simplification
We’ll be asking you to support and train our agents and affiliates to build and maintain an effective anti-money laundering (AML, CTF/Anti-Fraud) program making sure they comply with appropriate laws & regulations. You will do this by conducting on-site (face-to-face) and remote inspections on Western Union Agents in order to implement and maintain robust AML policies and procedures.
Where required, you will provide training and additional support for Agents to help them comply with new and existing controls. You will analyze agent transactions, report any suspicious activities, escalate the risks and work with law enforcement when required. You will assist your team in the overall development of AML programs, especially related with Back Office tasks and initiatives. You will build strong relationships with your agents as you will also perform remediation actions to make sure any inconsistencies and deviations from the AML Program have been resolved and the agent is fully compliant.
This position provides a unique opportunity to obtain hands on experience of how Western Union Compliance program is implemented by conducting face-to-face Compliance Program reviews within our agent network as well as a chance to use your time management and planning skills by ensuring that your travel arrangements (transportation, lodging, timing of reviews etc.) are planned out in the most efficient and effective manner.
For such a critical position, we expect you to have:
- 2-3 years of experience in an AML compliance or related field.
- Availability to travel up to 40% of your time for in-site visits.
- Client/customer service experience (preferably face to face or by phone).
- Fluency (oral and written) in English and Romanian.
- Driving license (preferably valid in EU).
- Ability to work independently, strong time management, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills as well as customer centric mindset
- University degree will be an advantage
- Back office, sales or call center experience will be an advantage
- Understanding of regional and global Money Services Business (MSB) regulatory requirements, the Bank Secrecy Act will be an advantage.

Annual base salary gross: 17 248 – 30 544 EUR
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Western Union salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. The salary is one component of Western Union’s total compensation package for employees.
